About
Our School
It has always been a vision of the pastors’ to have a Christian School. The timing until now has not been right. We feel that the Lord has opened that door now and he has invited us to join him in this work. There is obviously a need in this community and in our society. We also have a teacher, and it has been her vision to have a Christian school. The Lord has brought our visions together and we feel the timing is right to start this work.

Principal’s Welcome
Hi, I'm Jennifer Lambirth and I am excited to be the principal for the new Cornerstone Christian School. I believe that all students deserve literacy, a safe place to be educated and to know the love of God. I’ve attend Cross Roads Gospel since 2022. February 2025, I approached my pastor, Leo Freel, and asked about opening a school at Cross Roads. The reason I felt drawn to started a school is because I feel the public school system is not keeping their students and their staff safe, they're not meeting the needs of our students emotionally, academically and kids are leaving the public school system not being able to read, write, do math. With school of choice, parents have the option to pick the school that best meets the needs of their child/children.
In 1991, I graduated from William Penn with a degree in elementary education and a minor in music. I continued my education by receiving a reading endorsement, reading specialist K-12, masters in elementary education, and a certification to be nationally certified to teach students with dyslexia(certified academic language therapist CALT), and a certificate from the Dyslexia Institute of San Diego.
So the reason I have the CALT certification is because we started having children going to the Iowa City to be tested for why they could not read, during that time the students are coming back with a diagnosis of dyslexia. While getting my masters degree, my reading specialist degree, reading endorsement, the disability, Dyslexia, had never been mentioned. So in order to serve the needs of the students I had to find out what Dyslexia was. During that time I also discovered I’m a dyslexic learner. So at that time the state of Iowa didn't recognize Dyslexia and so I had to do online classes through the Dyslexia Institute of San Diego to start my knowledge of Dyslexia and how to help students. In 2020 Iowa did not have a Dyslexia Specialist Endorsement, so I contacted the Arkansas University and spoke with David Hanson about getting my Dyslexia Specialist Endorsement. He said I would be better off becoming a Certified Academic Language Therapist because Iowa would not recognize my endorsement from Arkansas. In 2008 I started tutoring students with dyslexia to change their academic outcome.
